26 Years Later Why You Should Celebrate the Benchmarks - Boom Marketing Group

Today marks 26 years since I came to America.
October 21, 1999 — I left behind comfort, career, and certainty… and landed in California with no plan, no connections, (no cell phone) and no clue how it was going to work.

But I had something stronger than a plan.
I had movement.
I had hunger.
And I took the first step.

🎯 Celebrate the Step — Not Just the Finish Line

26 isn’t a round number.
It’s not flashy. There’s no card section for it at Walgreens.

But it matters.

Because every year you stay in the game, stack a stone, or stay committed to your path — that counts.

  • Year 4 of a marriage? Celebrate it.

  • Year 12 at your job — even if your boss doesn’t acknowledge it? Celebrate it.

  • Month 6 of building your business? Celebrate it.

  • The first deal you closed after a dry spell? Damn right — celebrate that too.

This isn’t about giving yourself participation trophies.
It’s about not letting consistency go unnoticed.

🧠 Most People Wait for Perfect. Winners Just Move.

If I hadn’t gotten on that plane in 1999…
If I had waited until I “figured it out”…
If I had waited until someone validated the decision…

I wouldn’t be living the life I’m living right now.
I wouldn’t have my amazing wife and beautiful daughter.
I wouldn’t have this business.
I wouldn’t be writing this blog.

And none of it looked like a life-changing decision at the time.
It looked like a risk.
It felt like chaos.
It wasn’t impressive to anyone.

But it was the beginning of everything.

👊 Final Word: Small Steps Compound. Celebrate Them.

If you’re reading this, there’s probably something in your life worth recognizing today:

  • A risk you took that changed your path

  • A discipline you’ve kept, even when no one’s watching

  • A goal you haven’t hit yet — but you’re still showing up for

That’s the stuff that stacks.
That’s what builds a legacy.
Not the shiny stuff. The consistent stuff.

So take the moment.
Mark the milestone.

And remember:
The little decisions to move outside your comfort zone?
They don’t just pay off…
They multiply.
